Transportation a key focus of efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions

Metro TV, San Francisco

Many industries and actions contribute to climate change, but a growing body of research makes clear that it's happening and that the need to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions to curb its impact is urgent.

Emissions from the transportation sector comprise about a quarter of all emissions and are of particular concern in places like Asia, where the use of personal vehicles has grown significantly in recent years. Karl Peet, a climate change and sustainable transport researcher, described recent emission trends at the release of a global status report on transportation during the recent Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco.
